Kō Mahi’ai Mākeke
Ko Mahi Strip_inPixio.jpg

Kō Mahi’ai Mākeke South Maui Ohana Farmers Market

Ko Mahiai Makeke is all about bringing back the good old days of community abundance in Maui. They do this by sharing locally made and grown foods from farmers and small food businesses. It's all about creating that authentic taste of Aloha, from fresh fruits and veggies to plants and flowers, and so much more.

Their mission is to Malama i Ka Honua, which means taking care of the earth, just like our kupuna and ancestors did before us. They want to carry on their knowledge and practices for today and for generations to come.

If you're looking for a smaller, more intimate farmers market in South Maui, then Kō Mahi’ai Mākeke is the place to be. They focus on local, organic produce, but you'll also find vendors selling baked goods, prepared foods, and locally-made crafts.

Some of the most popular vendors include Maui Grown Produce, Honokawai Bake Shop, Napili Honey Company, Nana’s Indian Delights, and other small farms and arts and crafts.

Here are a few tips for your visit: get there early for the best selection of produce, bring cash or a credit card (some vendors don't accept checks), and most importantly, support the local vendors!

Open Saturdays 8 am - 12 noon

The Upcountry Farmers Market has been operating in Maui for over 40 years. It first started at St. Joseph's Church, but after a few years, it moved to the Eddie Tam Gymnasium in Makawao town, where it has been for the past 31 years. However, since June 26th, 2010, we have been fortunate enough to have a beautiful outdoor space at the Kula Malu Town Center in Pukalani, just up from Longs Drug Store, thanks to the Dowling Company.

At our market, we strive to offer locally grown produce, including bananas, coconuts, potatoes, salad greens, fruits, nuts, and probiotic preparations. We believe that by supporting local farmers and businesses, we can provide fresher and higher-quality products to our community. We also have a wide variety of prepared foods, such as pastries, baked goods, Indian and Thai foods, fresh miso, fermented foods, raw and vegan options, as well as juices, kombucha, dehydrated goods, and raw nut cheeses. We are constantly adding new items to our market, so there's always something exciting to discover.

In addition to food, we also have talented farmers who bring their own creations made from rare woods. You can find beautiful Maui-grown orchids cast in silver as earrings and table jewelry. But perhaps the most important thing we offer at our market is the Aloha spirit. Whether you're a new visitor or a long-time resident, we welcome you to come and enjoy the sense of community that our market provides.

We gather every Saturday morning from 7 am to 11 am at the Kula Malu Town Center football field parking lot, just up from Longs Drug Store. Starting in December, we even have traditional Hawaiian music to enhance the atmosphere. Just follow the signs, and you won't miss it! Our market is the longest-running event serving our community, and our goal is to serve to build community!

Open Saturday 7:00 AM to 11: AM
