Annie's Golf Courses

In the past, I used to be an avid golfer, but it was during a time when I didn't have much self-love. I never quite understood the appeal of chasing a small ball around all day, but I did it anyway for years. Nowadays, I only occasionally pick up my clubs and enjoy a nice day on Maui's stunning fairways. However, every time I do, I'm reminded of why I don't golf as much anymore.

All jokes aside, Maui boasts some of the most breathtaking fairways in the world. Where else can you play golf on the side of a volcano and take in stunning views of mountains and oceans? Of course, golfing in Maui comes with a hefty price tag. You could easily spend over $500.00 for a day on the greens. But fear not, as we know of three fantastic courses where you can play for under $100.00 a round, and some even cheaper. While they may not be Kapalua or Wailea, we believe you'll enjoy them just as much.

So, if you're looking to hit the links on Maui without breaking the bank, we've got you covered. Get ready to experience some of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the world, all while keeping your wallet happy.

Pukalani Country Club
Annie's #1 Pick

Set in the gentle hillsides of "Up-Country" Maui, Pukalani Country Club overlooks the Pacific Ocean and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Valley Isle of Maui. The Pukalani Country Club is nestled at the 1,100-foot elevation level of world-famous Mount Haleakala, an extinct volcano whose name in Hawaiian means "House of the Rising Sun" and is appropriately reflected as the golf course's logo.

Pukalani's 18 holes were designed by golf course architect Bob Baldock who designed more than 69 public and private golf courses throughout the United States.

The Pukalani Country Club's greenery covers nearly 160 acres. Built in 1980, the course is 6,962 yards long from the championship tees, plays to a par 72, and features 19 greens in its 18-hole layout! On hole #3, golfers may choose a tough iron shot across a ravine and into the wind for one green, or a challenging chip shot straight down to a well-trapped green several hundred feet below into the ravine. No other golf course in Hawaii can compare or offer you this unique setting and challenge of our hole #3.

"Pukalani" which in Hawaiian means "Entrance to Heaven" certainly describes Pukalani Country Club!

The Dunes

Annie's #2 Pick

The Maui is unique to the rest of Hawaii because it is made up of the remains of two volcanoes linked together by a valley or isthmus formed by the receding sea. Hence the name “Valley Isle.” The Dunes is the only golf course in Hawaii built on naturally occurring dune terrain.

Minimal earth-moving occurred when The Dunes was designed, which was a departure from the modern-day American course architecture that has ruled for much of the last century.

Instead, its architect, Robin Nelson, used the land itself as inspiration for the course’s design. It is, in many ways, a throwback to the way courses were made centuries ago; only in this instance, The Dunes enjoys the advantages of today’s technologies, like irrigation. It is the perfect blend of old- and new-world ingredients!

At Maui Nui, we know you want to create great memories from your Maui golf experience, but you don’t want to break the bank in the process. There’s a lot that goes into creating that memorable golf experience, and it’s not all about the course: you need to find a course that doesn’t blow the vacation fund, a course with a convenient location that embraces the aloha spirit. And of course, a course layout and conditions that’ll knock your socks off.

Whether you’re on the island for just a few days, or you call Maui your home, when you choose to play golf, you are making an investment. The return should be great memories of fun, hospitality, and amazing golf.

The problem is most Maui golf experiences are polite but impersonal. The courses are great but the fees are high—and man! They are tough to get to. That’s inconvenient on a lot of levels.

We believe a golf course doesn’t need to cost a ton to create lasting, happy memories. So we treat every customer like a good friend that we want to see again and again. We understand how it feels to look forward to an amazing golf experience only to feel kind of “blah” at the end of it all. It can ruin an entire day and leave you feeling disappointed!

That’s why our staff is not only polite but friendly and welcoming. It’s why we’re conveniently located just minutes from Kihei. No need to spend all day traveling when you should be playing. It’s also why we provide cool features like Toptracer Range technology, a cool, laid-back vibe, and great food and drinks that you can actually afford.
