Annie's Favorite Bakeries

Top
If you're a fan of baked goods, you're in luck on Maui! There are so many amazing bakeries to choose from, it can be tough to know where to start. While the more famous bakeries are definitely worth a visit, we'd love to share a couple of hidden gems with you that we think you'll love even more. These local spots offer not only delicious, hand-crafted treats but also a warm and welcoming atmosphere that embodies the spirit of Ohna. Yes, some of these bakeries may require a bit of a drive, but trust us - it's totally worth it. We hope you'll enjoy our favorite bakeries as much as we do. Happy eating!

Baked On Maui

375 W Kuiaha Rd # 37, Haiku, HI 96708

If you're looking for a great spot, this is definitely one of our favorites. Trust us, you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu. It's a little off the beaten path, but totally worth it if you're exploring Paia or on your way to Hana. Personally, I can't get enough of the Sticky buns - they're seriously amazing!

Four Sisters Bakery

1968 E Vineyard St, Wailuku, HI 96793 (808) 244-9333

We stumbled upon this amazing bakery called Four Sisters. We were actually at the Sunrise Cafe in Lahaina and they were all out of sticky buns (bummer!). But, the waiter told us that lots of restaurants on the Island get their sticky buns from Four Sisters. So, we decided to check it out the next time we were in Wailuku. And oh my goodness, it did not disappoint! The bakery itself is a little hole in the wall, but the treats are absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it - Annie even gives it two thumbs up!  Cash Only!

Grandma's

Grandma's Coffee House

9232 Kula Hwy, Kula, HI 96790  (808) 878-2140

We just had to share how much we love Grandma’s Coffee House. Even though it’s a bit of a drive from our condo, we always make the trip up-country to stop by. Trust us, it’s worth it! The Sticky Buns are absolutely massive and the breakfast entrees are big enough to share between two people. We’ve tried just about everything on the menu, but the Kalua Local and Breakfast Sliders are our favorites. When we visit, we always opt to sit outside on the back deck for the amazing view (just be careful of the chickens who run the place!). Don’t worry about the line, it moves quickly. We highly recommend checking out Grandma’s Coffee House!

Home Maid

Home Maid Bakery

1005 Lower Main St, Wailuku, HI 96793 - (808) 244-7015

Oh my goodness, have you heard of Home Maid Bakery?! It's seriously amazing! They're a full-service bakery with everything from delicious Bento Plates for lunch, to fresh breads, cakes, and even Manju (filled cookies) and Mochi Malasadas. And let me tell you, their Short Bread Cookies are out of this world! Plus, if you're lucky, you might even find their cookies and bread at Costco. Sure, the building is a bit weird and parking can be a challenge, but trust me, it's totally worth it. And don't even get me started on their Guava Cake... it's to die for! You've got to check this place out!

Komoda Store and Bakery

3674 Baldwin Ave, Makawao, HI 96768 - (808) 572-7261

Most people have heard of Komoda. It's been around since 1916 and even though it's a bit pricy, it's seriously one of our faves! It's the perfect spot to hit up on your way to Haleakala and they totally cater to tourists, but that just adds to the charm! Plus, while you're there, you HAVE to check out the adorable town of Makawao. It's the cutest little place to do some shopping and soak up some serious island vibes. Trust us, you won't regret it!

La Provence

La Provence

13158 Lower Kula Rd, Kula, HI 96790 - (808) 878-1313

I have to say, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with La Provence. The food is absolutely delicious, but sometimes the staff can be a bit rude - it's a bit like being in Paris! However, I have to give credit where credit is due - their pastries are simply amazing. If you're a fan of crepes, I think they have some of the best on the island.

Now, if I had to choose between La Provence and Grandma Bakery, I usually opt for Grandma because the people there are just so friendly. But I have to admit, La Provence's pastries really are better. So if you're in the area, I definitely recommend giving it a try. Just make sure you bring a mask - they might not let you in without one.

Papi's

Papi's Ohana

3481 Lower Honoapiilani Rd b102, Lahaina, HI 96761 - (808) 868-82000

Have you heard of Papi's? This new spot is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from our condo - perfect for a quick bite. Okay, okay, I was a little skeptical about pairing pastries and pizza in the same place but trust me, it totally works! The pastries are out-of-this-world amazing, and don't even get me started on the pizza...it's crazy good. Sure, the building might look a little funky, but you can't miss it - it's right next to the 808 Moped Store. Honestly, I can't decide which is better - the pizza or the pastries. You'll just have to try it for yourself! Don't miss out on this gem.
