Maui's STRs are still legal and open for business!

Maui Short-Term Rental Update

We want to keep you in the loop on Maui’s short-term rental news. There is a proposed bill that talks about phasing out rentals in apartment-zoned areas of West Maui, including Lahaina, starting in 2028, and the rest of the island in 2030. While this may sound big, the bill is still not law, and many people believe it will never happen as written because of legal challenges, economic realities, and community pushback.

Here’s what matters most for you: It is absolutely safe and legal to book your stay with us. Your reservation is secure, and our doors will be open to welcome you with the same warm hospitality we always have. Whether you are planning a trip for this year, next year, or beyond, you can relax knowing you will be able to enjoy the beauty of Maui and the comfort of our oceanfront condo.

Yes, It’s Safe to Book!

Planning your Maui getaway? You can feel confident booking Annie’s Surf Shack. Our condo is fully legal to rent, and there are no changes to your ability to stay with us. Even with proposed laws under discussion, nothing is set to take effect until at least 2028, and experts believe those changes are unlikely to happen as written.

We are here, ready to welcome you with Aloha.

Mahalo,
